New Online Marketing Group

When it comes to promoting your business online, the sky really is the limit - because it's no longer about money, but rather about the time business owners are willing to invest with their online promotion efforts, there aren't any capped budgets, limited resources, advertising schedules -- simply the matter of time.

One of the most effective ways to spend your time, in my expeirence anyway (all blogs and sites are different), revolves around groups. I've created several dozen successful groups focused on particular subjects and from what I've seen, people like to get together and share what they know, ask questions of each other, and share their experiences. I bring this up because I recently stumbled upon this new online marketing group, and it reminded me that though it doesn't look like much now, it'll be crawling with more business owners than an Amazonian ant hill in no time at all.

The key to creating a successful group, whether on Facebook or Google or any other number of social sites enabling groups, is to provide content. As you might notice, this particular group brings content to the table before anything else - something that can either help or harm the group as an online marketing group.

Okay, original content probably won't hurt the group, but it risks the chance of running stale early on. There are countless groups started and abandoned due to the creators lack of original content, persistence, or attention. In this case, this group might run aground and have nothing to provide it's members - as an online marketing group, that's bad news.

From a business owners stand point, groups are probably one of the best ways to promote and market your brand or business. Several reasons - one, you attract targeted readers who don't necessarily expect that the group is sponsored by a business; two, you can build these targeted readers if you're careful and eventually funnel them back to your own site, to your services or products page, or where ever else you might want to drive traffic; three, creating groups with specific focuses, such as this online marketing group allows you to diversify your efforts and target specific interests of your potential customers. For example, as a plumber in the social media sphere, you might create a group specificall about saving the environment one flush at a time and a group dedicated to DIY plumbing tips.

Consider starting a few groups and experiement with what works and what doesn't in your trade. You'll find that while one focus is saturated with interest, another is completely dry - no worries, groups are free to start and easy to maintain - most of the maintenance is automatic, you simply need to contribute, spread the word, and get people to join. So whether you start an online marketing group or an under the sink group, you're bound to experience connection with others, a possible drive in traffic to your ultimate goal, and a boost in profile exposure.
