Social media can be a compelling place - there's so much to discover! This mindset is exactly that of those stuck in the time trap. As a business owner, you need to focus on either the ultimate goal (make money), or smaller social media related goals that will eventually help you reach that larger goal. Staying focused in the social media realm can help you do this because it eliminates any meandering time - any spare clicks or time consuming customization. The time trap usually occurs when a user gets stuck in one particular area of mindset. for example, customizing profiles can often lead right into this time trap because it allows the user to express themselves. The key here is to quickly and efficiently express what you want to express (I'm a business owner, I run a company dedicated to ... etc.), publish, and move on.
Another avenue leading into the social media time trap is the compelling content that makes up the social media realm. Whether you read the content on the social media site or click away to read it is irrelevant - spending too much time consuming content can harm you and your endeavors as a business owner. While there's definitely a time for this consumption, it can often turn into hours upon hours as you slip down the social media rabbit hole. Staying focused in the social media realm doesn't require much work - just a basic list of what you'd like to achieve that hour, day, or week.
Make a list and post it on your screen so there's no way you can slip into the time trap - having a constant reminder of what you're doing, why, and what to do next is an excellent way to reamin focused.
That said, another idea might include creating a nother list of to do's while you work on yuour current list. You'll naturally get new ideas as you execute those on the list, so be sure to write the new ideas down either for tomorrow.
